Successful
Pain Management Treatments
Acute
or new onset of pain is very different from chronic or longstanding
pain. Acute pain is generally associated with an identifiable specific
pain generator(s). Acute pain can frequently be eliminated.
Chronic
pain may not be associated with a specific identifiable pain generator.
Chronic pain frequently become a chronic pain syndrome. Chronic pain
syndrome can be influenced by emotional, behavioral and psychological factors.
Your beliefs as well as past experiences play a role.
There
are also physiological changes that occur that can lead to a “sensitized”
condition Accurate identification of all the pain generators and
conditions that may influence pain will improve the treatment outcome.
