Successful Pain Management Treatments

Acute or new onset of pain is very different from chronic or longstanding pain. Acute pain is generally associated with an identifiable specific pain generator(s). Acute pain can frequently be eliminated.

Chronic pain may not be associated with a specific identifiable pain generator. Chronic pain frequently become a chronic pain syndrome.  Chronic pain syndrome can be influenced by emotional, behavioral and psychological factors. Your beliefs as well as past experiences play a role. 

There are also physiological changes that occur that can lead to a “sensitized” condition Accurate identification of all the pain generators and conditions that may influence pain will improve the treatment outcome.
